ABOUT
A formation space
for educational practice.
Organization details
Spiritual Care Simulator is a program of the Positive Dreamers Collective, a nonprofit aimed at equipping people, groups, and institutions with tools to be better humans. Subscriptions from individuals and centers (see Plans) support the people who maintain the program and organization; beyond that, the hope is to fund individuals and organizations to help with tuition for participating in a CPE program.
We want to further help create spaces for individuals to feel seen, known, heard, and understood. It takes listening, presence, and perspective to see the world from many different lenses. Let’s continue to bring that dream to fruition.
How did this come to be
The simulator came to being through the reflection of continual growth and learning. It was the integration of two things Bruce thoroughly enjoyed, CPE and Technology. This was an opportunity through his own education practice for students to have repeatable interactions that their peers can witness or in the moment follow-up with their own interventions. The simulator was also an opportunity outside of the group process to practice at home with a reflective component to strengthen the skill of self-exploration without a solution. The hope is to get comfortable with reflection instead of rumination and comfortable with process without solution. As Bruce would like to say, “Comfortable with sitting in the suck.”
What this application is
Spiritual Care Simulator hosts the Chaplain Simulation Application for Educational and Professional Development. Learners can enter simulated patient encounters, interview tracks, and educator practice, then review what their responses made visible. You can find the application here.
What it is not
It is not a clinical record, an admissions decision, an official ACPE or BCCI evaluation, a discrimination finding, or a substitute for consultation with an Educator, center, or certifying body. Individual CPE centers, employers, and boards set their own current requirements.
